About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling stuck, unhappy in life or unfulfilled. Do you need time and space to voice whats on your mind, the challenges you're facing or the emotional weight you're carrying?

Counselling can help you discover who you are, what you want and how to get there!

I offer a warm and empathic approach and offer a non-judgemental, safe and therapeutic space for whatever you choose to bring to counselling. My aim is to provide you with a confidential space to explore in safety, to support you through the process without judgement and empower you to discover solutions in a therapeutic environment. I will offer honesty and respect.

I work with young people and adults to help navigate life’s challenges, we all have moments where we need additional support. My experience is as an NHS youth counsellor.

Having experienced a difficult childhood it's my passion to support people of all ages and I understand how important it can be to have a space to release what you need to.

If you haven’t reached out for counselling before, I understand the process can feel quite daunting, but I always take care to adapt the process to you. Together we will learn about what works for you and decide on a way of working that will support you.

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk about your life, issues and concerns. I will help you explore your thoughts and feelings so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others. By developing this understanding of yourself, it is possible to move forwards making meaningful changes.

Practice description

I am trained in Person Centred therapy, this means I will try to understand from your perspective, I will walk alongside you and support you to find your own solutions, rather than be the professional that knows best. I will identify any re-occurring patterns that may not be in your awareness and explore these together. I believe that we all hold the tools we need, sometimes we need support to locate these tools to move forward.

On offer is both short and long-term counselling for adults and young people with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, a challenging time you need extra support with, trauma, stress, eating disorders and lack of purpose/loss of direction.

I believe this therapeutic relationship as fundamental to whether clients feel counselling is successful and I place a lot of emphasis on developing a strong, trusting, respectful relationship.

I am a registered member of the BACP and abide by their  Ethical Framework in practice

As well as my private practice I have many years’ experience working with young people and currently work in an NHS Youth Counselling Service.

My first session

It is a big and unnerving step contact a counsellor - not knowing what to expect, or how it will be. In our first session we will “get to know each other” where you can talk about want you want achieve in counselling and explore what you'd like to have help with as well as establish the therapeutic boundaries and visit a document called “our contract”. If you're happy we can then set up further sessions.

This first session is an opportunity to see if I am the right therapist for you, to get a feeling for how I work. I will ask you a number of questions to help decide if we would be comfortable to work together and to make sure you are offered the appropriate support. I also welcome questions back.
