About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully-trained Gestalt counsellor, a deep, dynamic approach that focuses on the here and now. This does not mean that we ignore the past or future: we might explore how unfinished business from the past, or your hopes and fears for the future, are impacting your life today.
A typical session might involve growing awareness about what has happened or is happening in your life. Or we might focus on what is happening between us, identifying fixed patterns that are no longer satisfying, and finding more satisfying ways of relating.
I believe (and research shows) that it is the quality and depth of the relationship that is most therapeutic. I offer a sensitive presence with whom you can explore what is difficult as well as what is joyful in your life.
I offer support for a wide range of personal and relational issues, including exploring the impact of neurobiological, social and cultural aspects on our lives.
Practice description
I hold sessions in natural settings, usually woodlands. We walk or sit during these sessions as you wish.
This is an alternative to traditional therapy which suits some people, including those who are deterred by the traditional therapy setting, and/or those who feel a deep connection with nature.
My first session
I offer a free brief phone consultation where you can say a bit about what you are looking for, ask any questions that you have, and arrange an introductory session.
In this introductory session you can say more about what brings you to counselling now, and what you hope to get out of it. I will also demonstrate how I am working, so you can decide whether what I offer matches what you are looking for.
What I can help with
Abuse, Addictions, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, OCD, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues
Types of therapy

About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully-trained and experienced Gestalt counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with the BACP and the UKCP. I can provide support for a wide range of personal and relational issues.
We might start by exploring what brings you to therapy now, and the effect on you and your life. We might discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, and how we might work toward that.
We might then go deeper into your experience. For my part, I will share with you what I am feeling with you. This creates a dialogue between us.
Through this dialogue we can gain a deeper awareness of what is bringing you to therapy and what change might be possible in your self, your relationships and your life as a whole.
I believe, and research shows, that it is the quality of the relationship that is most therapeutic. I am a compassionate and open therapist with whom I hope you will feel safe enough to explore what is bringing you to therapy.
I am committed to anti-oppressive practice.
I have worked with a wide range of people in a variety of settings. Alongside my private practice, I work in a local university, and have previously worked in bereavement services and an NHS acute mental health ward.
I am fully qualified as a counsellor (BACP) and psychotherapist (UKCP), and have an MA in Gestalt Therapy.
