About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my profile. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with 15 years experience of working in GP surgeries, NHS and IAPT (Improving Access to psychological Therapies) services and private and voluntary sectors. I also work with couples. I offer supervision to other counsellors and counsellors in training.
I use an integrative approach in my practice which means using different models and techniques to suit individual needs. My counselling style is open, friendly and conversational. I feel this is important in establishing the therapeutic relationship enabling change to happen. Seeking therapy is a brave step and it takes a lot of courage to begin the journey of self-awareness. I aim to provide a safe, warm, empathic and confidential service to all my clients to support you through the difficult times. I can also help you to learn effective techniques as recommended by NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) to manage stress, anxiety and depression.
I offer long-term and short-term therapy with a special interest in the following areas: anxiety, depression, stress management, sleep problems, communication problems and personal development.
Practice description
In my practice, I offer face-to-face and telephone sessions.
My first session
I usually describe the first session as an assessment session where I want to find out more information about you and how I can best support you. In order to do this, I may ask you to complete some questionnaires initially. Please do not worry about completing the questionnaires, they are not used as a diagnostic tool per se but can often help to identify common symptoms which you may be experiencing of stress, anxiety and low mood and can help to explain why you may be feeling the way you do. This can help me to see the bigger picture and can help to focus the therapy if required.
I will also ask you further questions regarding your physical health, mental health and lifestyle. It is important for me to establish in the first session whether I am the right person for you or whether I need to refer you to more specific services if I am unable to help.
I practice in pleasant premises in a discreet courtyard setting just off Knowle High Street, close to the Greswolde Arms, Solihull with access to one male and one female toilet. I do work on the first floor so there is one flight of stairs up to my room. Currently, there is no disabled access to the building. There is an intercom system to enter the building.
My full address is 1675 High Street, Greville Court Business Centre, Knowle B93OLL.
There is free parking for 2 hours at the rear of the Business Centre in Knowle Shoppers car park.
