About me and my therapy practice
I recognise that each person is unique and affected by their experiences in different ways. Through person-centred counselling, I will put your experience at the heart of the therapy. I will be led by you in what you would like to discuss within your appointments and will develop an understanding of your experiences as we explore them together, at your pace. As your understanding of your emotions and internal processes enhances, the greater your capacity for choice, growth and development will become.
I hold qualifications from the University of Warwick in Person-Centred Counselling and also in Facilitating Health Behaviour Change. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
In my private practice, I work with a range of clients from diverse backgrounds, with a variety of presenting concerns, inclusive of anxiety, depression, trauma, coping with change, bereavement and loss, eating distress, health behaviour change, decision making and challenges to self-esteem.
Over the last 6 years I have also been providing counselling in academic settings, supporting people with the personal challenges that they encounter, whilst also navigating academic and social pressures.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I gained 14 years of professional experience supporting people to make changes to their drug and alcohol use and to move towards healthier, safer lifestyles.
Practice description
My practice is empathic, respectful and caring. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space for you to use to explore and gain understanding of your emotional responses, considering how you relate to yourself and others around you, and to make the changes that you would like to see in your life.
You will be provided with a secure, therapeutic relationship in which to connect with your emotions, to process them, and to decide what place they have in your life moving forwards.
I work with adult clients in my private practice, offering person-centred counselling to support you to process your emotions and to facilitate the changes that you would like to see in your wellbeing.
Counselling sessions can be offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis and can be either short term or long term depending on your needs and preferences.
I understand that your choice to enter counselling is a commitment, both financially and in terms of time and energy. We are able to review your counselling at any stage to ensure that you are content with the therapeutic process.
I offer in person appointments in Kenilworth and Leamington Spa. If you would prefer to be in the comfort of your own home, or if distance would otherwise be a barrier, I am able to offer appointments online via Zoom.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute telephone or online (Zoom) consultation, during which we can discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and where you can ask any questions that you may have. Following this consultation, counselling appointments can be arranged either face-to-face or online (Zoom).
