About me and my therapy practice
I use a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-based and Jungian approaches to help individuals think about their relationships.
Relationships can be the place where we feel the most creative and alive but they can also leave us vulnerable to abandonment, unhealthy dependancy, feelings of impotence and despair. My aim is to open a safe space where anxieties around intimacy can be understood and worked through. If you are struggling with intimate relationships, it feels difficult to find a partner, a recent break-up is keeping you hostage or your relationships are following the same pattern, it might be crucial to explore what might be going on underneath the surface.
Sometimes the way we are in relationships is linked with childhood experiences and traumas. Lack of understanding or conflicts with parents or siblings can affect our very sense of self and how we are in the world. Self-blame, perfectionism, binge eating or shopping can serve to fill the gaps left by needs that were not met by our parents or siblings. It can be crucial to explore these in order to grow and change the most important relationship - the one with yourself.
I also work with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, loss, binge eating disorder, bulimia, self-harm and addictions.
I'm very interested in giftedness and I'm aware how vulnerable and sensitive gifted people can be. I have many years of experience in student counselling working with young artists in the Royal College of Art.
I have done a rigorous training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF Therapy and completed a Diploma in Jungian Psychotherapy with Adolescents and Young Adults at the Society of Analytical Psychology. I hold a PhD in Cultural Anthropology and I have particular interest in different cultures, mythology and narratives that shape our thinking. I have an expertise in working with young people (18-25) and creative people from all fields, backgrounds and nationalities.
