Availability
My counselling room is located in Rugby, Warwickshire for all In-person appointments. Free parking is available at the centre where my room is based, it has a private car park, private reception area and toilet facilities. There is also an intercom entrance and appropriate disabled facilities. My therapy room is located in a quiet space in the corner of the centre.
In addition to providing face-to-face appointments, I also offer remote counselling either by telephone or online so I can reach different clients across the UK.
Remote appointments are carried out in a separate building within the premises of my home. This is within a safe, quiet space with a private phoneline so equipped for telephone calls.
I'm able to offer appointments in the morning, afternoon and evening for both In-person and remote sessions.
About me and my therapy practice
A little about me.
I’m Juliette. I love chocolate, I dislike the gym (but still go to keep me healthy), I love pottering around my garden and I love nature (free medicine and good for the soul!) I can be a bit of a sweary Mary (expressive, not offensive) and I love music.
In terms of my professional life, I have always worked with people and prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a HR professional for a large manufacturing company. It took me nearly 13 years to realise a unionised and controlled environment was not for me. Rules, policies, procedures and conformity was becoming my norm but it didn’t feel right.
My life changed following a sudden loss of someone close to me. It made me question my life direction and my job, is this it? Is this what I want from life? I arranged some counselling to help me work out what I actually wanted.
Having a safe space to talk about my feelings and issues made it obvious I was not enjoying my job anymore. My loss put life into perspective. I recognised the once important things in life…or so I thought (the house, car, holidays, lifestyle etc) were materialistic goods with no importance, yet this is what I worked so hard for!
I recognised my profession was no longer suiting me, it was not reflecting me as a person or giving me the purpose, meaning or work life balance I wanted so I decided to start a new chapter in working with people, but in a different way.
I decided to become a counsellor. This was a profession I had always been interested in but dismissed it wondering, who would ever want to open up to me? I left behind the world of business and started my counselling career. I became a student and progressed from an introductory basic evening course to completing a Bachelor of Arts in counselling.
So here I am, 10 years into my counselling career and now I work for myself and live by a healthy work/life balance. I believe we can achieve anything if we have a strong desire for change!
Practice description
My approach.
I offer a warm and confidential space to allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Through exploration and examining your life, you can become more self-aware which can help you make new, meaningful choices within it.
I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe environment, this can be helpful with someone from outside of your day-to-day life. Together, we explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and a new understanding of you.
My approach to therapy is a Person-Centred one, meaning my clients are treated as the expert, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be them . A Person-Centred counsellor will not judge anyone, no matter what they bring to the session. This helps build a trustworthy relationship in which people can feel free and supported to disclose whatever is troubling them. It is described as eventually leading people to discover their own abilities and autonomy, so that they can cope with current and future problems (BACP, 2024).
Counselling is not about giving you solutions or advice but empowering you to make your own changes and choices that are right for you. I am not the expert in your life, you are!
The first step.
After you have made contact with me, I will arrange a brief telephone conversation with you. This is to allow you to raise any concerns or questions you may have and share a little about what is bringing you to therapy. Please be rest assured that each telephone call is conducted in strict confidence.
From our discussion, If I feel I am not the right counsellor for you, I will say and will point you in the right direction of where to find a suitable counsellor who may better suit your needs.
If we decide to work together, our first appointment will be arranged.
My first session
All the information needed for the first appointment will be confirmed in writing (usually via e-mail).
You will be asked to complete a Client Agreement. This will also be sent to you prior to our first appointment and will outline the terms of my practice and will include everything you need to know about our sessions, which includes confidentiality, data protection, cancelling appointments and what you can expect from me.
Client Agreements are sent electronically and can be completed electronically (or a hard copy to be signed if preferred). I will provide guidance notes of how to complete electronically.
Please be assured you can ask any questions or raise anything you are not sure about before, during or at any stage of your appointments.
During our first session, I will complete an Assessment.
An assessment is the process of gathering information about you and how your are finding general everyday issues which will allow me to understand how you are experiencing different things, it helps as a starting point for therapy.
The duration of the therapeutic process will depend on the type of difficulty or problem you are facing. I offer six sessions initially; our work will be regularly reviewed giving us both the chance to assess how the relationship is working out. Further sessions can continue but will be discussed and mutually agreed first. Please remember, you can cancel or chose to end therapy at any time.
Regular appointments can be made in advance if you would prefer the same appointment each week. I have an online booking system which will be shared with you or I can arrange appointments for you. You can pay by card using my online booking system.
I accept card payments and bank transfers or cash for In-person appointments only.
My counselling sessions are 50 minutes in duration and usually take place on a weekly basis. In-person appointments are £55.00 per session and telephone and online counselling appointments are £50.00 per session.
