About me and my therapy practice
It's always good to talk.... but it's not always so easy to find someone to listen...
Hello, I'm Tina and I offer a safe, non-judgemental space in which we can explore your feelings, anxieties, life experiences... anything that you need to talk about. I will sit by your side and try to help you make sense of your life story.
Practice description
I am a BACP registered therapist and I work integratively from a person-centred perspective, which means I can draw on a number of different therapeutic styles in order to find the right support for you, but my primary concern is to develop a trusting relationship with my client. I work online and also offer face-to-face appointments very near to Clapham tube station, in a quiet safe environment where you can relax and we can work together on whatever you choose to bring.
I have always been interested in how the brain works and how to help those struggling with their mental health. I worked for several years as a volunteer on a domestic violence helpline and then became a Samaritan. I learned so much from the brave people who would ring in to talk when they were feeling at their most desperate. In 2015 I began my training as a counsellor and qualified in 2019. Since then, alongside my private work, I have worked for a low-cost counselling charity where I gained experience dealing with a variety of issues from historical child abuse, to working with bereavement , addiction and eating disorders. I have also worked for the charity, Mosac (now called We Stand) working therapeutically with parents whose children have experienced child sexual abuse. Doing this work has enabled me to work at depth with parents dealing with many difficult issues including trauma, self-harm and suicidal ideation.
Throughout my therapeutic journey I have gained much experience of parenting children of all ages; navigating relationships and just dealing with the ups and downs of life. All of which helps me to empathise and understand many of the challenges and difficulties my clients may be experiencing.
My style is open and friendly and I aim to create a safe, trusting environment where the client will feel comfortable enough to discuss anything they choose to bring.
My first session
After receiving an email inquiry from you, I will get in touch to arrange a free 30 minute telephone call or zoom session where we can discuss what has prompted you to seek counselling, what issues you would like to talk about and if you have any questions for me. Following the call, if you decide to go ahead, we will organise a suitable time to continue with sessions either in person or on zoom.
I am a registered member of BACP, and follow their code of ethics. I have regular supervision and I am fully insured.
