About me and my therapy practice
We have all at times felt less able to cope, because of stressful life events, bereavement, loss or pressure at work.
Some people have always felt anxious and depressed and as time has passed our ability to manage this has felt less satisfactory.
I help to support clients overcome a range of different issues, including loneliness, feeling out of place, assertiveness, depression/anxiety, and difficulty managing emotions.
This is both in a practical, supportive capacity, and also helping clients understand conflicts from the past. The aim of this is to increase self-awareness and bring what is unconscious into consciousness. It focuses on the fact that many of the troubles in life are the result of mental processes that are hidden from us.
My aim to enable you to you to reflect upon issues such as unhelpful and destructive patterns of behaviour, for example, that seem to go on repeating themselves.
I have long experience of working both in the NHS and private practice supporting people through a range of concerns, and will work alongside you so that together we will find a way to move beyond your current predicament.
I also offer Solution Focused Brief therapy which include using CBT techniques , and am very experienced in working with people diagnosed as suffering from emotionally unstable personality disorder using DBT informed techniques.
Practice description
I provide therapy in a safe and non-judgemental environment, regardless of your personal background.
I have a comfortable therapy room a mile from Hatfield Town Centre. After our initial assessment, for which there is no charge and no obligation, we can discuss a way forward.
This includes the most appropriate therapeutic approach to meet your needs; for example short - term focus on a goal or a longer, more reflective approach.
My fee is £45 for a fifty minute session, but I reserve spaces at a lower fee for students, people who are unemployed, and those on a low income.
My first session
In the first session I will ask you to say a little about yourself and some of the things you would like support with and to understand better.
You will be free to ask me questions about the therapy process and my experience.
