Perhaps you’re overwhelmed by parenting or caring responsibilities or burnt out by work or study. Maybe you struggle to say no and feel like you have to be perfect all the time. You may be finding it hard to maintain relationships and are quick to anger. I've been there and I know it can feel like wading through mud sometimes.

Previous clients say that they feel calmer, better able to assert themselves and less worried about what others think of them after sessions with me. If you feel stuck in a rut, I can help you challenge old patterns of behaviour that no longer serve you. As we work together, you may feel more connected to yourself and others, leading to better relationships. Having someone walk alongside you as you find new pathways in life is a powerful, healing experience.

How I work

I'm a warm, compassionate integrative counsellor and use a range of approaches (mainly humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT) to help untangle the difficulties in your day-to-day life and explore your personal history. We'll work at your pace to support you to find what you need, start to heal the wounds of the past and feel more ease and self-acceptance.

I've been where you are now and know how transformative counselling was for me in dismantling the barriers I put up, helping me find my voice and put myself at the centre of my life.

Coming from a background in the media, I’m fascinated by what makes people tick and feel that counselling can go beneath the story we tell and help us discover our true selves.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face sessions in a bright, welcoming room near Angel tube station, as well as online and telephone counselling for adults. I work both long and short-term, depending on your needs, challenges and budget. I work on a weekly basis with clients and offer 50-minute sessions at a mutually convenient time.

Issues I work with include:

  • Anxiety and depression, including social anxiety
  • Stress and burnout
  • Parenting/relationship and attachment problems
  • Self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Grief, loss and bereavement

I have worked in charities supporting carers and at a women’s centre, as well as in private practice. I work with adults of all ages, no matter what your background, nationality, sexuality, gender, faith or disability and respect people's different viewpoints and experience.

My first session

It may feel daunting or embarrassing to talk to a stranger, or you may not know where to start. But admitting you need help is a vital first step. Please contact me via the online form or phone or by email at joannaclarkejones7@gmail.com, for a free 20-minute introductory Zoom or phone call, where we will discuss what brings you to counselling, you can ask any questions of me and decide if we're a good fit.

If you decide to work with me, we will then schedule a first full 50-minute appointment where I will find out more about your history and what you are hoping to get out of our sessions.
