About me and my therapy practice
We all experience difficulties and challenges in our lives. Sometimes, problems can feel overwhelming, even unbearable. At times, we may feel that we ourselves are the problem.
I offer a non-judgemental, confidential space where, together, we can explore the challenges you face. Some facts of our lives cannot be changed – having happened already or, for example, illness or impending loss. As your therapist, my aim is to offer you the relationship and support you need to reflect on and be more able to cope with difficult life events. I believe therapy includes developing a deeper understanding of ourselves in the context of past and present experiences, environment and choices. I also believe we all have an innate ability to heal and that therapy can help to remove obstacles in our path – helping us shift from a life where we merely survive to one in which we develop an intention to thrive, despite life’s challenges.
The relationship between us, as therapist and client, is hugely important and after a few sessions together we can review whether you feel I am the right therapist for you. As an Integrative therapist, I draw on a wide range of theories, including the relationship between mind, body and our sense of safety and wellbeing. Many clients benefit from developing their ability to notice what is going on in their body and being curious about this. If you feel comfortable, as well as talking, our sessions might include breathing practices, drawing and other creative ways of working that you are willing to experiment with. However, this will always be your choice.
Before training as an Integrative therapist, I practised as a solicitor in London and lecturer at Law School. I bring to my therapy practice the integration of the professionalism and clarity of thought of my legal career, the focus and communication skills of my teaching and myself, as another human being, with my own life experience.
Practice description
I practice from my comfortable and welcoming therapy room in Farnham, Surrey (Hampshire borders). This has off-street parking and disabled access. I also offer sessions online via Zoom (or any other platforms we agree).
As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I have worked with clients and helped them to overcome a wide range of difficulties. My background as a solicitor helps me to support professionals suffering from work-place stress and anxiety and this is a focus of my practice. I also have extensive experience of working with survivors of sexual abuse and trauma. I have helped clients with a wide range of other specialist topics - please contact me so that we can work together on your wellbeing.
Each therapy session lasts for 50 minutes. Please contact me to discuss fees. I am on the AXA Health, Aviva and WPA panels of psychotherapists. To support your access to therapy, I may be able to offer concessions in some circumstances - if you would like to talk about this, please do get in touch.
