About me and my therapy practice

If you are struggling with anxiety, relationship problems, depression, low self-esteem, addiction problems and more, then you will no doubt find psychotherapy and counselling very helpful. If you are struggling with any of these problems, then I know the isolating pain they can cause, but I have seen depression turn to joy, despair into hope and self-hatred into self-love. It is very important that you feel safe and comfortable and that is why I offer a £25 first session (initial assessment) to start with, so you can see if I am the right person for you. If I think I am not the right person for you, I will point you in the right direction.

Being real and honest with someone in a trustworthy setting can be a great healer. My areas of expertise include recovery from Generalized Anxiety, OCD, Health Anxiety , Anger Issues, Childhood Trauma, Shame, Attachment (relationship and co-dependency issues) and much more. I ask you at the start what your goals are and we agree a plan going forward

More detail on the issues I treat can be found on my website:

www.johnhartlandtherapy.com

If you are overwhelmed with anxiety, confusion, hurt, anger, shame, depression, fear or struggling with an addiction, then I suggest you are kind, gentle and loving towards yourself by taking a risk and starting the process of change.

Please see my Counselling Agreement on my website for more information and up-to-date prices

Practice description

I am integrative in my approach, meaning I tailor the sessions towards you, drawing on many approaches for example Cognitive Behavioural Theory, Schema Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Person-Centred, Inner Child and much more.

My first session

The first session (initial assessment) is usually £25 (fifty Minutes) and I will try to make you feel at ease (as you can imagine, people are often nervous). I will ask you what your issues are and what you hope to gain from therapy as a starting point and you may have some questions you want to ask me. I will try and give you an idea of what I can do to help you. If I think I am not the right person for you I will point you in the right direction. At the end of the session, I will ask if you would like to book another session or go away and think about it and come back to me later. Please see my Counselling Agreement on my website for more information and up-to-date prices
