About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced counsellor in central Chichester and work with individuals and couples to enable their journeys of understanding and change.

Life can be challenging. The way we manage our fears, losses, traumas and relationships affects us every day.

For many years I have worked within our health services, including the N.H.S. I have seen how people sometimes feel lost trying to cope among the complexities of modern living.  At times it may seem as if no-one takes the time to really listen, which can lead to feelings of isolation and difference.

It is important  that people are confident in who they are and that they have the voice to say how they want to live their lives and relationships.

You are unique. No one can take this journey on your behalf.

I take the time to listen and provide safety.  I offer guidance and support when you want it; I do not judge.

You will lead your own journey.

Practice description

Events causing us to experience collapse, trauma or anxiety can be the result of a significant one off experience, or made up of chronic repeated occurrences. We sometimes battle with grief, stress, fear, anger, loss of self-worth, physical illness and/or depression. Traumas can also be deep in the past, sometimes barely remembered or not consciously remembered at all. Or it may be more recent and overwhelming.   It can numb or distort our feelings.  It may affect our ability to enjoy relationships, to carry out our work or simply carry on with everyday life.

To break the binding chains we need to find a place of safety to  explore all the thoughts and fears which may have been holding us back.

This can be a difficult or impossible task alone. I offer a safe confidential space where no one else will hear the words you need to say out loud.  I can help you explore the root causes that have left you struggling.  I use my professional training and experience so that while listening to your words and emotions,  we are able to explore your world together.

With understanding and acceptance confidence grows; the past becomes manageable.  Those parts of you that have been pushed aside and the feelings in your body that you have struggled to understand, come to light.  You can become strong and free enough to move forward into the life you choose.

Each session is 50 minutes long.  Sometimes you may want counselling for just a few weeks or it may be longer.  We will review progress every few weeks and you will decide.

My first session

In  the first session we will discover if you are comfortable to work with me, and if I feel I can help you.  You can ask me any questions you might have.

I will also ask questions.  Some will be about what you  want from counselling and some about your background and personal details. I will tell you about how I protect and store your data and about the way I work.  You will let me know what you are looking for and why you feel you have come for counselling.

If you would like to go ahead we will then arrange a fixed weekly 50-minute slot(s) and we will agree the fees.  Prior to the beginning of our regular sessions I will send you an agreement (contract) together with data protection information which must be signed and returned before we begin.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced counsellor/therapist with an established clinic in central Chichester. I work both with individuals and couples to enable their journeys of understanding and change.

Life can be challenging. The way we manage our fears, losses, traumas and relationships affects us every day.

For many years I have worked within our health services, including the N.H.S. There are times when we struggle trying to cope among the complexities of modern living.

It may seem as if no-one takes the time to really listen and understand what we are going through; this can lead to feelings of frustration, isolation, difference, loss and even despair.  Sometimes we feel we don't understand ourselves.

It is important  that people are confident in who they are and that they have the voice to say how they want to live their lives and relationships.

You are unique. No one can take this journey on your behalf.
