About me and my therapy practice
What are you thinking?
”I am unhappy in this relationship. No matter how hard we try, we just can’t fix it.”
”I am feeling sad. It has been hard for too long.”
”I just wish I could stop being so anxious.”
“When will I ever get over this grief?”
“It’s like like my past is affecting how I cope today.”
It is good to talk through situations with friends and family. Sometimes this isn’t enough or it’s too difficult to share. We end up feeling stuck and alone. Miserable.
If you are reading this, I am thinking you are carrying emotional pain that you want rid of. We all want to have happy and fulfilling lives.
Do you think it is a sign of weakness if you need to see a therapist? Or that you’re not strong enough to deal with this situation yourself. Maybe you think you are a complete disaster and failure.
You are already thinking that someone else might be able to help you - otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this! You are starting to contemplate how you might get the help you need. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help.
That is bravery. That is confidence. That is personal strength.
Many people get coaching in business and sport to be the best possible. Do you want to be the best version of yourself? I can help you intentionally focus on yourself and/or your relationships so you are in a much better emotional place.
Testimonial from LN: “Therapy with Mark has been life changing for me. Through the therapy I was able to process and understand difficult past circumstances which where impacting my life in the present. Mark has a wonderful ability to ask the right questions that come from his careful and thoughtful observation and reflection of your own words and body language. Which is then followed by his unique ability to challenge your thinking. This process in my experience becomes the gateway for personal change.”
Practice description
Individual sessions last for 50 minutes whilst couple sessions are 90 minutes. I will work with you to focus on your personal priorities, at your pace, in a way you are comfortable with.
Couples
I specialise in couples counselling for relationship and family issues. Perhaps you or your partner had an affair. It is really difficult to deal with betrayal yourself. If you are facing separation or divorce I can help you prevent this or make this life transition less painful. You might be able to see a pattern of hurtful behaviour that seems to have you trapped. I can help you understand what is happening, coach you to change this destructive pattern, to feel better about yourself and create a better relationship with those you care about.
Individuals
For many years I have worked successfully with individuals on a wide range of topics. Counselling can help make sense of confusing thoughts, anxiety and other painful feelings. My approach is flexible depending on what you share with me.
Coaching
I also offer coaching/mentoring to help you identify and achieve your goals.
How?
Good therapy is about the relationship and alliance we create. You choose whether we meet in person, by video platform or telephone. The outcomes are just as effective irrespective of how we meet. We can meet in a private, quiet office or you can opt for the convenience of staying in your own space without the hassle of travelling time and costs.
I will work with you at your pace and in a way you are comfortable with.
Where?
We can meet in person in a comfortable office or through a secure video platform (normally Zoom) from the security of your home.
When?
Appointments are available both during the day and evenings. (Evenings are much busier.) Ask and I will let you know when I am available.
My first session
How does therapy start?
When you get in touch this is normally what happens next:
For an individual I offer an assessment (reduced charge) to understand what you want to look at and your life experience. This takes about 60 minutes.
For couples I see you together (approx 90 minutes - reduced charge ) to hear about your relationship. This is followed by individual, assessment sessions with each of you to hear about your life history and how you see this relationship (approx 60 minutes each). Then we meet together again for a review.
This lets us decide and mutually agree if we are a good fit - that I can help you and that you are comfortable working with me. If we agree, we identify what you want to achieve and therapy begins...
Individual therapy sessions are £65 for a 50 minute session. Couples sessions are £120 for a 90 minute session. There is an extra fee for appointments after 6pm and to cover room hire if meeting in person.

About me and my therapy practice
I have over twenty years management and supervisory experience and a specific counsellor supervision qualification from 2017. Supervision is offered to anyone working in the caring and professional sectors.
I believe supervision includes providing a professional service to clients, learning new skills and also the well-being and professional development of the supervisee.
Supervision or coaching can improve and develop your work practice or it may be a requirement from your registered/accrediting body to have on-going supervision.
