At the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I know that navigating the accreditation process can be a complex, sometimes challenging experience. Our accreditation team works tirelessly to help members understand and successfully complete their accreditation journey. I offer essential support tailored to individual needs, including accommodations for neurodiversity. It’s a privilege to provide this personalised assistance and to see how it can make a real difference for members, helping them feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout the process.
One member recently shared their personal testimony about their journey with BACP, describing how my guidance made a meaningful impact on their experience:
“The support I was offered for my neurodiversity has been amazing. Liz has patiently listened to how I interpreted questions and gently offered me very constructive guidance on what the questions were asking. This support has been a lifeline in respect to returning to my profession feeling out of place. A lot changes in a year. I was able to apply my hyperfocus to prioritising the application, knowing I had support and guidance right beside me. I am deeply grateful for this.
What I learned through the re-application process (for senior accreditation) has been invaluable. My annoyance has been replaced by realisations that I had taken for granted. The questions drew on my experience as a therapist, helping me recognise how much experience I actually have. I can now understand why my MSc lays a strong foundation for complex cases. Experience develops skills which I now recognise were limited without my further education. I am more aware of my limitations and must admit the reapplication process has highlighted these further. Offering examples of my work has reignited my confidence and, if successful, I feel appreciative and worthy of receiving senior accreditation status.”
This feedback highlights just how impactful the accreditation process, coupled with personalised support, can be for professional growth and self-confidence.
