We’re well into phase two of the Ethical Framework review. Feedback from various departments, members and stakeholders gathered since 2018 have now been analysed and collated.
You can find out more about the themes of feedback we received in the information collected during the review:

It’ll provide an opportunity to see the themes and feedback that may inform the review.
We recruited diverse BACP member focus groups (including people with lived experience of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) issues) to provide feedback. Meetings with these focus groups started in October 2023 and were completed in December 2023. They will help provide us with insights into what members might need from this review to allow them to face the changing ethical challenges, and support them in practice.
This is part of our robust consultation plan that will allow members to contribute fully to the review process. If you didn’t get a chance to participate in the focus groups, there’s still time to share feedback with us through the survey. The analysis of these focus groups will help to inform the review and give thought to what members want and need from their Ethical Framework.
In November’s 2023 issue of Therapy Today, we introduced you to some of the wonderful team who’ve been working on the review in 'Spotlight: Meet the team'. We hope this provides a better understanding of the team, their roles in the review and why they’re a part of this project. We also have a piece in March’s Therapy Today called 'Reshaping the Ethical Framework' that will explore how our framework may take shape in the next iteration.
We’re holding a free online webinar on Wednesday 10 April from 9:30am to 12pm to give members the opportunity to hear about where we are in the review process and what we've learnt so far. There will also be a chance to give your feedback on the current Ethical Framework and offer suggestions on producing an updated version.
Join us at the Ethical Framework Review 2024 event.
If you have any questions about this review or the current framework, you can contact our Ethical Framework team at efnew@bacp.co.uk. We’ll continue to share more updates with you as the project progresses.
