Ruth Appleby Alis explores the nature of conflict in the supervision space. As therapeutic practitioners, we have been taught to understand the importance of conflict and disagreement in the consulting room and to navigate our way carefully through this with our clients, holding the space for the gifts that rupture can bring when repair is possible.

Working with shame in supervision: relational and practical interventions to facilitate learning

Patti Wallace considers the impact of shame in clinical supervision. The session will begin with reflection on situations that can result in feelings of shame in supervisees, how shame can prevent appropriate use of supervision and how shame can impede supervisee learning. Patti offers insights from her experiences of working in different countries and cultures regarding the impact of shame and how it can be shifted from an impediment to development to a stimulus for professional and personal growth.

Co-designing training for frontline workers to discuss mental health with visually impaired people

Dr Mhairi Thurston, senior lecturer in Counselling at Abertay University, shares her research on co-designing training for frontline workers to use the PHQ4 and counselling skills to open conversations about mental health with visually impaired people.

Investigating the cross‐cultural relevance of the Strathclyde Inventory: A pilot study

Dr Susan Stephen presents the results of her study on behalf of herself, Dr Afnan Alhimaidi and Dr Emmanuelle Zech.
