We’re looking for passionate and skilled members to join the Board’s delegated Committees and help make a difference to our organisation. As a membership organisation, it’s crucial that members have a voice and are involved with the running of the Association.
Why our Committees make a difference
Our Committees are crucial to our governance, playing an important role in reviewing and challenging the work being done within the organisation. The Committees provide assurance to the Board, helping them to make informed decisions.
As a Committee member, you’ll use your skills to help steer our strategic direction and uphold the highest professional standards. You might be involved in:
- making changes and improvements to the governance framework
- reviewing the criteria for refusing membership
- developing how we deliver our accreditation schemes
- our financial strategy and policies
- understanding the potential use of AI
- utilising our strategy to maximise our influence in Government
We’re currently undertaking a review of the Board’s Committees so the current structure and remits may change. However, we welcome applications from members with the skills set out below and we’ll match successful candidates to opportunities across our Committees.
Please note: This is a voluntary role, and while it doesn't offer financial compensation, it provides valuable experience, the chance to gain and develop professional skills, networking opportunities and the chance to make a significant impact within the organisation.
Creating a diverse governance structure
We’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
We want to improve the diversity of our Committee and therefore encourage applications from members of all backgrounds, life experiences, career paths and diversity of thought. We especially encourage applications from student members and those from underrepresented groups.
What we're looking for
If you have skills and experience in the following areas, we’d like to hear from you:
- membership application frameworks (applications and refusals)
- accreditation application frameworks
- finance skills (formal financial qualifications or financial skill expertise)
- investment strategy and management
- governance (understanding of governance codes and charity and company law)
- safeguarding
- business continuity and cyber security (including AI)
- communication and member engagement
- policy development
Additionally, we value strong strategic and critical thinking, analytical skills and sound judgement among our Committee members.
If you believe you’d add value to our Committees but don’t meet all the criteria, we’d still love to hear from you. We encourage you to apply and explain the value you’d bring in your application.
Why join us?
By joining a BACP Committee you’ll get the opportunity to:
- use and develop your skills and expertise
- make a meaningful contribution and impact on BACP and the profession
- collaborate with a diverse group of professionals
