As a retired member, you don’t need to do anything. You won’t be represented in the SCoPEd framework as you are no longer practising. You may still be interested in what it means to our members.
Should you return to practice in the future, you can return to your previous membership category with exception of former senior accredited members who will return as accredited members. This is due to revisions being made to the senior accredited membership category to align it with the SCoPEd framework column C standards.
As part of our implementation of SCoPEd, a transition period opening in February 2024 and last for two years. During that time, we’ll be using temporary mechanisms to enable our individual members to move between membership categories where they have the skills, training, knowledge and experience, if they wish to.
For more information, please visit our transition mechanisms page.
Looking ahead
Following the transition period, which is expected to finish in early 2026, all our membership category entry requirements will be fully aligned to the standards of the SCoPEd framework columns.
New accreditation schemes with new routes to move between membership categories will be available at this point. These routes will consider training and CPD alongside other existing skills and experience. More details will be published in due course.
