Motions

Motion 1:

That BACP undertakes a review of the evidence base in relation to trauma practice, develops competences and a training curriculum to support trainers, and establishes a specialist trauma practice accreditation scheme. This aims to enhance the competency and sensitivity of counsellors and psychotherapists in addressing trauma-related issues.

Motion 2:

That BACP takes a lead in encouraging improved access to appropriate therapy for marginalised, highly-challenged parents - those who experience barriers to accessing appropriate counselling. Here the complex interplay between psychological needs and life challenges suggests that a more flexible helping model needs to emerge and be supported.
