saving & printing web text

what is it?

Most people know how to print a page on the Internet. However, what if you only wanted to print a part of a page and not the whole thing? Or what if you wanted to copy some text on a page for use on your own computer? Below are some useful tips for achieving these results.

highlighting text

When the mouse is moved over text on web pages the cursor symbol changes to indicate text. To highlight text simply click and drag. However, please note that on some web pages text is 'write protected' and cannot be highlighted.

Highlight the text on screen that you want to print, then either:

PC users only - Internet Explorer

  1. Go to the menu bar at the top of the screen and click on 'File'. Then scroll down to 'Print' and click. Alternatively, simply right click in the highlighted area and choose 'Print'.
  2. A dialogue box will pop up. On the 'General' tab, in the 'Page range' area, make sure the 'Selection' option is selected. If the 'Selection' option is greyed out, you are not able to use it. The 'Selection' option will also be greyed out if you haven't highlighted any text.
